West River II
Last month a friend & I spent a rainy day exploring a few points of interest west of the Missouri River here in South Dakota. Specifically the small towns of Belvedere Philip and Cottonwood. I shot a mix of medium format black and white & color positive film in 35mm.
Unbeknownst to me I fell victim to a common issue with Mamiya 645 camera models as the internal mirror stop broke, thus preventing me from accurately hitting focus. Nick Carver has a great tutorial on how to fix this issue yourself if you’re so inclined. I opted to send mine to Bill Rogers based out of Vegas who exclusively repairs Mamiya Cameras as any attempt to repair it myself would likely result in a further damaged camera.
Typically I find slide or positive film colors a tad cool for my liking. Thus I experimented with an orange filter to satisfying results. Despite the broken Mamiya and experimental filtration I found a few frames that I really enjoy.
